Moments

walk in the woods

I have so much to be thankful for. I get overwhelmed with details and not doing enough, or doing too much and not smelling the posies. And so I freeze, unable to move. I heard some sad news about a friend today. It is not fair. It makes me pause and reflect. I want to be better and enjoy every moment. I still get tears in my eyes, thanking my kids for making me a mom.

Back at it...

Gardening Apron
The joy of finishing a project. This is 'Not Your Grandmother's Gardening Apron' from You Grow Girl by Gayla Trail. I used a feedsack for body of apron, using floral fabric and ribbon from my stash. My machine had a bit of a meltdown, during craft night. It is all better. phew - lots of projects on the list.

I've given myself a halt on buying anymore fabric/yarn. I have so much to use and have fun with. First, though, I need to organize the sewing room closet. I've started a list of items that would help the sewing room/office feel more inviting. Although I don't dread working in this bit of a room, I don't find it worth staying. I've come up with too may excuses and just want to do.

Here is the current spot:

There's so many good things about it. I need to be creative on cost-efficient options. The first thing, though, is ORGANIZE. So I can find what I'm looking for rather than run out to the store to buy.

Flea Finds

Spring is in the air and so are are the flea markets. We get up early (as usual) and go on adventures. Here are some finds:

Lacoste shirt, screaming preppy and fabric (to be used for the bench cushions on our porch)

I love planters and plates. Plates and planters

Hand embroidered pillowcases. The craftsmanship in the details.

One of our friends is having a baby. YEAH!

valerie bib

A bib to go with the blanket, finished minutes before leaving. I need to practice on snaps when I don't have a deadline in front of me.

with sprinkles on top

We had a really good weekend. The kind when on Sunday night, thinking about Friday evening seems a world away. Busy, busy including excavating our driveway (not us), flea markets, carnival and friends.

It seems too early for the 80+ degree weather. just saying so...

Welcome weekend

With the addition of this rain barrel, we are all set for the rainy days ahead.

anneslie Yard sale

Other welcome additions from the neighborhood yard sale - Krypto, egg cups - (we've been looking for some!) and this cool webbing, used for lawn chairs. The colors match Viv's room. Don't know what we'll use for but just couldn't pass up.

And, someone is digging in our dirt - squirrels or rabbits. I am more than a bit annoyed.

Trying to protect the seedlings that have emerged with toilet paper rolls. I think chicken wire might be our next step.

Gingham happy

Inspired by Farm Chicks, I recovered this wooden desk top with a vinyl (flannel back). Now the kids can draw all they want. This desk was a freebie find at a garage sale last summer in Ohio. We found a perfect nook, with a perfect view for inspiration.

Kitchen backsplash - 7/08

This fabric was leftover from our backsplash in our old house. Seeing this picture makes me miss that house.

My babies grow

One baby is at school. Registered for Kindergarten last week. I don't think I am ready. He is.

My other baby has entered the tantrum zone.

seedlings grow

The kids refer to them as such. Now, I do too. Some seedlings under grow light. Parsley is already in ground. I am cautiously optimistic about the raised beds. In celebration of Earth Day, we're picking up a rain barrel this weekend - yeah! Need to think of plan b - to keep squirrels and rabbits out of the beds.

No excuses

I won't, although I feel the need of saying why I haven't been around.

I've been swirling, sometimes at too fast of a pace. But all is good, each step. I am reminded to slow down and watch the lovely around.
